Mine used to be blue. Now it isn't.
Not that it was a huge shocker on the first Tweeting Tuesday/post Opening Weekend game against Oakland. Slightly over 11,000.
Sure, the Leafs had the chance to not be eliminated from the playoffs and hockey means everything to everybody in the city. But I'm pretty sure that really didn't have an effect considering it happens every dang year!!!!
I truthfully don't get it. Going to ball games can be cheaper than taking your whole family to the movies. Sure, money doesn't grow on trees (/end cliche). But there's no reason the Dome should be that empty. Breaks my heart.
But enough ranting and raving about the attendance issue, beating a dead horse (/end cliche).
Casey Janssen was sent down to Vegas to make room for Dotel today. I must say, I love it when Twitter allows me to feel SMART about Baseball :) The amount of fans saying that Frasor should be sent down instead of Janssen because he "sucks". I won't lie. I was still confused about options and outrighting and waivers and all that gibberish.
Sure, Baseball's a sport...but it seems like a lot of people don't understand the fact that it's also a business. Performance-wise, should Frasor have been sent down over Janssen? Yeah, there's an argument for that. But then you risk losing Frasor blahblahblah. Again, won't even try to "explain" it.
It all boils down to this - if you have options and you play in a position that the team is STACKED with, guess what? You're gonna get sent down. I don't think this is a shocker to anybody.
Unfortunately, it means there's even less high sock mojo on the Jays now *pout*
(disclaimer: Still exhausted from Opening Weekend - brain is at 1/3 strength)
Janssen had an option? Huh.
ReplyDeleteHard to make a seasonal judgement after 2 games, but he'd have been my first choice to throw off the island too. Good explanation on the options, though- part of why Rzep is still up too, methinks.
